About us

Penhallow Press is a collaborative effort between writer and printer Chris Volpe and graphic artist and poet Anna Birch. In addition to running Penhallow Press, Chris teaches poetry at the University of New Hampshire as well as writing, poetry and the history of art at Franklin Pierce College and Chester College of New England. Anna's art company, Queen Oscar Designs, has been creating handcrafted blank journals, invitations and greeting cards for more than a decade.

Much of our work is done letterpress, because we feel it lends a tactile beauty to printed materials that digital media can't match. We are evolving into a focused independent publishing concern, printing limited edition poetry books, broadsides, exhibit catalogs and literature, along with occasional custom invitations, cards, and stationery. We work with an antique printing press in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
