Echolocation Oil on canvas, 10"x13" (Nfs) Echolocation is the ability to navigate using sound, like bats and whales. By pairing that title with this image, I intended in a vague way to suggest a metaphor for the human condition. My interest as an artist in this piece was first of all in portraying a mood and, secondarily, in creating depth among the shadows. I am especially emotionally attached to this painting because, I think, the disconnected, long-submerged experiences that gave rise to it were so private and intense. - Click on the image for a full-size higher-res photo -
