"Symmetry as the Poetic Essence of the Universe"

Oil on canvas, 12"x20", $410 in antique ornate frame

The title is taken from one of the sections of Edgar Allen Poe's prose-poem, "Eureka." Poe's idea is that, viewed as what Niezsche called "an aesthetic phenomenon," the world can retain its contradictions without our being required to assign them moral values. In referencing Eureka, I only wanted this moonrise to hint vaguely at such metaphysics though a visual semi-equilibrium between darkness and light.
